My brother Kevin and his fiancee Jocelyn are getting married in Puerto Vallarta on May 2. I’ve been helping them plan their wedding, well, since the very beginning! I’ll be chronicling their (our) wedding planning in the blog. I discussed their marriage proposal, STDates, and wedding website. I’ve even recapped their Las Vegas civil ceremony. Today I’ll feature Jocelyn’s bohemian bridal shower!
With Jocelyn’s sister/matron-of-honor living in Colorado Springs, Marj and I were left with the majority of the planning. Since Jocelyn’s favorite clothing brand is Free People, we decided the theme would be bohemian-inspired. I created a pin board with a bunch of photos on Pinterest for inspiration. We also rummaged Home Goods and Michael’s for decor elements.
Here’s what we came up with for the invitations:
If you check out Pinterest board, you’ll probably notice the obvious inspiration.
And for the shower decor:
Marj and I made “dreamcatchers” out of twig wreaths (from Michael’s), lace trip, jute twine, and feathers:
The dessert display consisted of a lantern and rug purchased at Home Goods, wood planks from Amazon, and of course, the dessert! Jocelyn’s mom made pecan tarts (my favorite!). We also had macarons from Opera Patisserie and bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
The ikat runners were also from Home Goods.
Do you think we pulled off the theme well? You can check out more photos in my Google+ album! Thanks to Jocelyn’s parents for hosting the shower, both sets of parents for providing food, Marj for her sharp party decor skills, Jocelyn’s sister Eileen for the succulent favors and game prizes, and Jocelyn’s sister-in-law Jovie and niece Jenny for games and more prizes! Also, thank you for all the lovely ladies that were able to come, play games, and shower Jocelyn with lots of love and fun!
We’re headed to Jocelyn’s bachelorette party in Vegas this weekend. Wish us luck! Haha.
