The fireplace room or family room is in in the back of the house.
It was empty for about three months, except for a few boxes. When it came time to get a Christmas tree, we decided it was going to be placed in this room and that we needed a sofa to enjoy our lit tree in the evening. Now it’s the most furnished room in the house!
The bronze accent table is from Living Spaces too! The slipper chairs are from Home Goods. They were sort of an impulse buy when I still lived in the apartment. It was my first attempt to add more pattern into my life. I go back and forth as to whether or not I really like them, but they’ll do for a while since I have no plans to replace them any time soon.
I like how the original owners replaced the sliding doors with french doors. It’s the only dual-pane windows in the house! You can see the buffet table that matched the dining table behind the slipper chair. I see this space as our future children’s playroom so ideally I’d like toy storage to replace the buffet table. If it weren’t for somewhere to place our modem/Wifi router other than the floor, then I wouldn’t want anything there for now!
I also really like the vaulted ceilings that make the fireplace room feel bigger. However, if you look up you’d see an open J-Box, which could pose a safety issue. Plus with no lighting source and no more Christmas lights, we rarely stayed in the room. We needed lighting here asap!
I definitely want to change the blinds to roman shades and pillows to add more color, as well as eventually replace the tiles on the fireplace.
And I’m thinking a faux sheepskin rug could be in the near future! As always, I’m open for suggestions!
